EBNet does science rather than politics, but we do respond to national and other surveys where our expertise is relevant to policy formation. And at present it is impossible to be unaware of the troubled state of the UK water industry. Today’s headline item ‘Thames Water fined £122.7m in biggest ever penalty‘ has already accumulated hundreds of comments, while a Government press release a few days ago reported a record 81 criminal investigations launched into water companies. The industry has very few defenders, but opinions differ strongly on possible ways out of the current situation, and even more on how to pay.
Should EBNet be gathering the opinions of our members into some kind of a position statement or advisory? Or are there enough other bodies able to respond? Let us know your views, and don’t miss the chance to feed information into the Committee
