The UKRI Digital Research Skills Catalyst is a new national training platform built on six years of collaborative work across seven UK universities. It brings together peer-reviewed training materials covering programming, statistics, machine learning, data stewardship, and more, alongside direct one-to-one support from research software engineers and data scientists.
- Learning Portal – 50+ peer-reviewed resources covering programming, statistics, machine learning, AI, image analysis, data stewardship, FAIR principles, and more.
- Expert Consultation Service – Free 1-to-1 sessions with research software engineers, data scientists, and informaticians.
- Bespoke Training & Events – Tailored workshops plus networking and training opportunities.
The Catalyst is available to everyone in the UK research and innovation community including researchers, clinicians, technicians, engineers, and those working in industry or the public sector. Training is from foundational to advanced level, covering areas relevant to the BBSRC, MRC, EPSRC and NERC remits.
The Catalyst brings together resources created by seven of nine Data Science in Healthcare & Biosciences (DaSH) projects which developed materials to assist health and bioscience researchers in data management and analysis. These include Cloud-SPAN led by Prof James Chong, in conjunction with EBNet’s Bioinformatics WG.
