EBNet have organised a forthcoming EBNet Video Training workshop for our ECR membership with a limited number of places available. If you’d like to join us, secure your place by emailing us. We will be in touch with further details. ECR travel bursaries, up to a predetermined limit, will be offered to ECR members to support travel and attendance. - Friday, 26th April 2024. Online session ā essential preparation. 9am-11am
- Friday, 17 May 2024, Birmingham. In-person workshop ā training. All day. (Phone/laptop required).
Purpose
The aim of the training session is to improve the EBNet membersā video production skills, to film and to produce their own short video content in the future to help explain, demonstrate, and advertise their own work.
Your output from the course will be a short video (up to 3 minutes) on your own research or research area which you can use in CV and funding applications, etc. These will be published on our EB Network website. You could also make your video subject more general, i.e. āI am an Environmental Biotechnologist becauseā¦.ā
Course Outline
The online session will cover aspects of:
Pre-production; What are you going to film?; Script; Storyboard; Location; Risk assessment; Filming your cutaway material (in a lab or anywhere relevant to their research and work; What is meant by cutaways?; Using whatever camera and microphone you have available to you; What cutaways to capture; Basic filming techniques
The in-person workshop will cover aspects of:
Production; Location; Using a camera; 3-point lighting; Setting up the microphone and capturing clean audio; Interviewing and Piece to camera; Post-Production; Ingesting and organising your media; Editing software and tools; Editing techniques; Exporting and uploading your videos
