BBSRC Strategy Advisory Panels (SAPs) play a key role in delivering our mission by providing expert input and advice that:
- Help to shape and develop our strategy, policy and ideas
- Provide assurance, monitoring and benchmarking on our research and innovation decisions and investments
- Ensures that our research and innovation decisions are supported by expert knowledge and insight
Membership of the AMCG SAP is an opportunity to help advise BBSRC on transforming industries through bio-based processes and products in a new low-carbon bioeconomy. These activities encompass a multidisciplinary area utilising biological systems for the:
- Development of novel, bio-based and low-carbon manufacture of improved materials, chemicals, biopharmaceuticals, and energy vectors
- Production of more sustainable products through renewable resources and sustainable feedstocks
- Use of biological systems for the environmental remediation of land, water and air
The AMCG SAP are keen to encourage applicants with expertise in the following areas:
- Advanced chemical manufacture in the fine and speciality chemicals area utilising bio-based materials and/or systems
- Process engineering and/or scale-up of industrial biotechnology systems in a commercial setting including lifecycle and technoeconomic assessments
- Knowledge of the chemicals industry and manufacturing landscape in the UK and internationally
