EBIC ECR conference – EBNet prize winners

EBIC ECR conference – EBNet prize winners

Thanks to our colleagues in the Environmental Biotechnology Innovation Centre (EBIC) Hub for a highly enjoyable and successful ECR conference on 8-9 July in Edinburgh.

EBNet sponsored prizes for Best Presentations and Best Poster. In a very tight and competitive field, the overall winner was Dr Yasmin Meeda for her excellent presentation on Engineering biology for metaldehyde biodegradation in drinking water.

Two strong runners-up in second and third place respectively were Dr Maria Magliulo from the Natural Histoiry Museum, for her talk on Exploring microbial diversity in mine waste: a roadmap for bioengineering technologies; and Dr Natalie Byrd from the University of Manchester with Hydrogenase Mediated Biosynthesis of Catalytically Active Cu Nanoparticles. These two are from the ELEMENTAL Hub   –  EBIC members take note and raise your game even higher for next year!

The Best Poster prize went to Manuel Lera Ramirez of UCL for OpenCloning: a credible Open Source alternative to SnapGene and Benchling that supports automation and integration with research software

Congratulations to the winners, and see the EBIC Hub webpage and LinkedIn for more news on this event.
