CIWEM/Severn Trent – Minworth WWTW tour 25 Sept 2025: don’t miss!

CIWEM/Severn Trent – Minworth WWTW tour 25 Sept 2025: don’t miss!

Minworth WWTW on the outskirts of Birmingham and is operated by Severn Trent Water and is one of the UK’s largest, serving around 2 million people.Ā  The West Midlands branch of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) has arranged a site visit on 25 September 2025 which is open to CIWEM members and non-members.

The tour will follow the treatment process through primary, secondary and tertiary treatment to discharge.

For details and to register for the visit see here.

Please note that PPE is required, including steel toecap boots and a high viz vest. If you don’t have appropriate PPE, contact the organisers via the registration form.

As noted in a post on a previous site visit to Totton WWTW, opportunities to visit water and wastewater treatment facilities are becoming increasingly restricted, even where there is a long history of such visits.Ā  It’s understandable, but a very big loss, especially for early-career researchers and professionalsĀ  –Ā  also for scientists, industry representatives and policy-makers.

Don’t miss this valuable event! Our thanks to all those involved in organising and carrying it outĀ  –Ā  and to CIWEM/Severn Trent’s Gen Yip for bringing it to our attention
