The Microbial Interactions in Biofilms and Microbiomes conference is a one-day international event bringing together leading scientists and early-career researchers working on microbial ecology, biofilms, microbiomes, evolution and biotechnology.
This event aims to explore how microorganisms interact, organise and adapt within complex communities across environmental, industrial and clinical settings. The conference will focus on the mechanisms underlying cooperation, competition and communication, and how these processes shape community structure, metabolic exchange, antimicrobial tolerance and ecological stability.
EBNet director Prof Sonia Heaven said, “This topic is critical both to our understanding of established environmental biotechnologies and to the development of new ones, and is central to EBNet’s Microbiology/Engineering Theme: we warmly welcome the event, and look forward to further discussion of the outcomes”.
The conference is hosted by Cardiff University and is primarily funded by the Wellcome Trust, with additional funding from Applied Microbiology International (AMI). The event is supported by both AMI and the National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC).
