The Elemental Hub is hosting a lecture by Prof Elizabeth Watkin on 18 June 2026 at the Natural History Museum, London. The talk will explore how microbial biotechnology can transform biomining; and will highlight innovative bioleaching approaches, including the use of salt-tolerant microorganisms and sustainable methods for recovering rare earth elements.
The session will be chaired by Dr Ana Santos, Researcher at the Natural History Museum and WP1 Lead for the Elemental Hub.
This seminar is intended to offer insights into cutting-edge solutions for more sustainable mineral extraction and recovery. Audience members are warmly encouraged to attend in person; a hybrid option will also be available for those unable to be there.
