Anaerobic Fermentation publications

Some interesting new publications this month in the field of Anaerobic Fermentation and biorefineries.

Recent developments and future perspectives of marine macroalgae biorefinery in a circular bioeconomy approach. Lawrence, J., Oliva, A., Murphy, J.D. and Lens, P.N., 2025. Research Handbook of Innovation in the Circular Bioeconomy, pp.260-271.

Critical factors influencing biohythane production from research to commercialization. Cho, S.K., Trchounian, K., Reungsang, A., Kumar, V., Igliński, B., Piechota, G. and Kumar, G., 2025. Energy, p.136284.

Dr Yue Zhang, Co-Lead of EBNet’s AF WG, said “It is great to see the excellent work being done in this area, which shows both the increasing level of interest and the increasing feasibility of the approach in a variety of contexts. The WG recently ran an Anaerobic Fermentation workshop, jointly supported by EBNet and BBNet, to assess the current development and potential of mixed-culture AF and put it in the context of national & international decarbonisation and circular bio-economy frameworks. A summary of the event is available here, with the full report due out soon”.
