The session includes two presentations, on Nereda‘s technical developments, experience of meeting current industry needs, and new developments regarding harvesting of biopolymers from granules; and on Algal-bacterial granular sludge (ABGS) in biological wastewater treatment processes

Paul Lavender is Water Sector Director (UK) at HaskoningDHV UK Ltd, a company of Royal HaskoningDHV

He has over 25 years commercial and consultancy experience and is responsible for RHDHV’s water technologies, digital services and consultancy in the UK water sector.  He specialises in wastewater and biosolids treatment and has worked across a wide range of projects from R&I to delivery and commissioning of new technologies.

Dr Zhang Xiaoyuan is Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering in the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Nankai University, China.

She has extensive experience in low-carbon integrated processes for energy and resource recovery from wastewater. With over 50 journal articles published, her research has contributed significantly to both environmental engineering and sustainable water management.
