Like EBNet, our sister NIBB the Biomass Biorefinery Network (BBNet) has now come to the end of its official BBSRC funding period. BBNet’s mission was to help move the UK towards a more sustainable and circular bioeconomy, and the Network has just launched its Impact Report: Driving Sustainable Growth and Collaboration in Biorefining from 2019 to 2026.
The report describes BBNet’s enviable track record of achievements, including:
- Collaborative success: how the Network has united academia, industry, and policy to tackle the global challenge of replacing fossil-based resources.
- Funding impact: a look back at the Proof of Concept (PoC) funds, Business Interaction Voucher projects (BIV), and Scale-up awards that have accelerated sustainable technologies.
- Innovation & case studies: showcasing key projects – from renewable energy from food waste to commodity chemicals from flowers and microbes – that demonstrate the UK’s leadership in biorefining.
DON’T MISS this excellent summary of how BBNet’s activities have contributed to strengthening knowledge and building collaborations in this key area of Industrial Biotechnology – and watch out for the Network’s final report, The State of UK Biorefining: Progress, Performance and Pathways for Growth, which will be officially launched in the near future.
