The Follow-on Fund (FoF) is BBSRC’s flagship translational programme and a central part of its commercialisation pipeline, translating research outputs into tangible products, processes and services. The FoF has invested over £80 million in more than 300 projects since its launch in 2004. A survey found nearly half of FoF projects reported that the funding had directly enabled a commercial outcome, such as a spin-out or a licensing deal, with a further third reporting ongoing progress towards commercialisation.
The annual Showcase Webinar, on 2 Dec 2025 will highlight newly-funded FoF projects from the most recent rounds, share key insights from the recent evaluation of BBSRC’s translational funding and explore how the programme delivers on BBSRC and UKRI ambitions in innovation and commercialisation.
