The latest webinar in our new BES series, from 4 Aug 2025, is now available here on the EBNet Youtube channel.
The topic was Microbial electrolysis cells for H2 production and CO2 microbial electrosynthesis. The speakers were Dr Sovik Das, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi; and Dr Velvizhi Gokuladoss, Senior Associate Professor in the CO2 Research and Green Technologies Centre of Vellore Institute of Technology University, India. Dr Gokuladoss’ presentation is embargoed as some of the material in it is being prepared for publication.
The event was ably chaired by EBNet ECR Dr Maira Anam of the University of Nottingham.
This was an information-packed session with references to many topics and projects and we could happily invite both speakers back for further in-depth presentations. For more details on any of the subjects covered please contact Dr Das or Dr Velvizhi Gokuladoss who are willing to exchange knowledge and expertise with others working in this area.
The next webinar in the series will be on Interfacial Bioelectrochemistry: Enzymatic NO and CO₂ Reduction and H₂ Evolution. The speaker is Dr Cristina Cordas from the NOVA School of Science and Technology in Portugal and the webinar will take place on Mon 9 Sept 2025: see here for more details, or scan the QR code below for updates.
Then in October we will hear Prof Claudio Avignone Rossa of the University of Surrey, on Electroactivity of microbial communities in microbial fuel cells for bioremediation.
This series is brought to you by EBNet’s working group on Bioelectrochemical Systems for Environmental Biotechnology (BES WG), led by Dr Sharon Velasquez-Orta of Newcastle University.
