A webinar organised by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) will discuss the most critical skills required for the transition from a linear to a more circular economy, identify when these are needed and explore how they can be secured.

Prof Jhuma Sadhukhan, who heads EBNet’s PISA WG, said: “While CIWM’s remit across the waste sector is wider than that of EBNet, the issue of upskilling and skills shortages is significant across the biotechnology sector, and particularly so in industrial and environmental biotech”.

Prof Sadhukhan is also the UK Lead for the Global Sustainable Bioproducts Center (GCSB), one of 6 worldwide Global Bioeconomy Centres funded over the next 5 years.

The panellists will also discuss the role of schools, higher education and employers in delivering “the engine room of the new economy”, and whether the UK Government is doing enough to set the path and provide resources.
