The next phase of the UKāUkraine Horizon Europe collaboration initiative is now open.
Following a nationwide call, Ukrainian universities have submitted project ideas designed to foster academic cooperation, strengthen research partnerships, and stimulate innovation exchange with UK higher education institutions. These ideas are a milestone in joint efforts to build strong, competitive consortia for upcoming Horizon Europe 2026 and 2027 Work Programme opportunities.
Some examples of topics within EBNet’s remit include:
- Bio-based and circular technologies for soil regeneration and sustainable reconstruction (BIO-CIRCLE)
- Marine Microorganisms for biodegradation of plastics (BioPlasticBreak-UA)
- Design of fungal consortia for biodegradation of polyurethanes
- Bioremediation of ecosystems contaminated by conflicts (e.g. SOIL4LIFE-UA, BIORESTORE-UKR and others)
- Bioremediation of Ukraine’s contaminated eco-systems – microbial consortia from the Black Sea
- Microbial remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils
UK researchers are invited to review the project ideas and contact the Cormack Consultancy Group (CCG) if they wish to be connected with Ukrainian teams. A dedicated UKāUkraine matchmaking event will be hosted in early December.
