If you would like to use High Performance Computing for genomics and metagenomics but don’t know where to start then a Cloud-SPAN workshop could be for you! The Cloud-SPAN team has developed two workshops which provide an introduction to using the command line, logging onto the cloud and developing skills to analyse and manage large data sets. The workshops are free.
Genomics [online] 15-24 January 2024
Trains you in organising bioinformatics projects, assessing read quality and performing quality control by trimming and filtering and carrying out variant calling.
Metagenomics [online] 13 February – 1 March 2024
Learn more about metagenomics, a way to explore all the genetic material in an environmental sample. We welcome environmental scientists who would like to use high performance computing for metagenomics analyses, or anyone with an interest in metagenomics to register. No previous experience of the command line or HPC is required.
Scholarships
Scholarships are available to cover the costs of participating; for example childcare, accessibility or equipment. Priority is given to members of underrepresented groups and those with financial difficulties.
