Green Stories has a new Epiphanies – Flash Fiction competition which is open for entries until 27 August 2025. The remit of the Green Stories project is different from EBNet’s, but there is plenty of overlap – so surely scope for some entries inspired by Environmental Biotechnology. Start writing now!
The call is for short stories of up to 500 words that capture a moment of epiphany, where attitudes or behaviours with environmental implications (e.g. food, travel, consumption, gardening, cleaning etc) change for the greener.
The winning flash fictions will be compiled into an anthology, with plans for a follow-on film competition: filmmakers will choose one or more stories to adapt into a short film to be showcased at film festivals next year.
