The High Value Biorenewables Network (HVB) has funding for short studies to explore a new area of research, sich as a new direction inspired by current research or adoption of a new technology from existing work. These awards are for desk studies rather than proof-of-concept work, although they can include some supporting laboratory work with an industrial biotechnology focus. Physico-chemical methods are not eligible.
- All projects must be within HVB’s scope, and applicants must be eligible for BBSRC funding. Early Career Researchers may apply via an eligible sponsor.
- Applications from HVB members who have not previously received HVB funding are particularly welcome.
Two awards are available, of up to £10k at 100% Full Economic Cost (FEC); £8k at 80% FEC. Match funding is not required unless there is an industrial partner. Up to 50% of costs can be subcontracted to service providers – for example business or market development activities etc. Projects must be completed with reports and invoices submitted by 30 April 2025 (there is no flexibility in this date).
