This position is available at the University of Limerick to undertake research in the area of pre-treatment and valorisation of waste streams of Irish dairy industry. The goal is to enhance existing effluent treatment plants using efficient pre-treatment and post-treatment modular technologies as well as to convert waste sludge [secondary activated sludge, nutrient sludges, fats oils and greases (FOG)] from a burden into valuable renewable energy and material resources (potential biogas and biorefinery feedstock) for industry.
