Talk: Fighting superbugs with tiny warriors 12-12:30. Dr Franklin Nobrega talks about the role of phase in fighting anti-microbial resistance
Talk: The future of plastics 13-13:30. Dr Iman Mohagheghian explores how to make plastics more sustainable, from developing biodegradable alternatives to recovering microplastics from wastewater.
Talk: Pollution detectives – Daphnia at work 15-15:30. Dr Katie Reilly explains how her research uses Daphnia, a tiny freshwater organism, to uncover the hidden effects of pollution and toxins in our environment.
4 July
Talk: Bioplastics from the deep – how seaweed is reshaping packaging 12-12:30. Luke Barnett, PhD researcher at Aberystwyth University, talks about the cutting-edge development of seaweed-based bioplastics using sodium alginate.
5 July
Talk: Can origami made of DNA help us kill superbugs? 17-17:30. Dr Ioanna Mela reveals how tiny DNA nanostructures are being designed to target bacteria and deliver antimicrobial agents.
