IEA Task 37 Biogas Newsletter

IEA Task 37 Biogas Newsletter

For anyone who doesn’t already use it, a big shout-out from our AD WG for IEA Bioenergy’s Task 37 Newsletter.

This astonishingly comprehensive round-up draws attention to anaerobic digestion, biogas and biomethane developments around the world: for example, the July 2025 edition covers IEA’s first Outlook for Biogases and Biomethane to 2050, the European Biogas Association’s latest Decoding Biogases, two items on the growth of biogas implementation in the USA, an update on foodwaste prevention in the EU, reports from the Horizon Europe Biomethane cluster and from GIE on policy and market recommendations and infrastructure needs  –  and much more.

Dr Mark Walker, EBNet’s AD WG Lead, said: “The UK is already well served in AD and biogas intelligence thanks to the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) –  but the Task 37 overview provides invaluable global insights and perspective”.

The AD WG has strong links into the wider biogas community through Angie Bywater, our former Network Manager and ongoing EBNet member, who contributes to a wide range of forums and activities and sits on ADBA’s Management Board; and EBNet Director Prof Sonia Heaven, the current UK representative for Task 37. The WG also recently hosted a webinar by previous and current Task 37 Leads on the activities and resources available from the Task.

The Newsletter is produced by Dr Arthur Wellinger, a huge name in the AD world, with Managing Director of TripleE&M, President of the R2GAS Research Centre, former President of the EBA and Vice President of Biomass Suisse as just some of his roles. You can subscribe for free on this link.
