Congratulations to Dr Meredith Barr, who leads EBNet’s Biochar WG, on her Keynote Lecture at WasteEng2026 on Scoping the Potential of Integrating Thermal, Thermochemical, and Biological
Conversion Technologies. The presentation covered the outcomes of the joint BBNet/EBNet workshop she ran last year on Integration of thermal and bio-conversion technologies.
A Summary Report from the joint workshop is on the Resources page, and a journal paper on the outcomes is currently available as a preprint: we look forward to its full release soon. Many thanks to London SouthBank University and to the Supergen Bioenergy Hub SHARE Network for funding Meredith’s travel to WasteEng2026, now EBNet is out of travel grants. And it looks as if she may be joining the WasteEng Organising Committee next year, so watch out for more sessions and activities in this exciting field.
Seems like only yesterday Dr Barr was off to WasteEng 2024 where she and Dr Paul Enguerrand Fady publicised the WG and presented their work, including the outcomes of an EBNet-funded POC project: reports on this and the associated travel bursaries are available on the Outcomes page. Great to see people successfully building on earlier support!
