N Ireland Biomethane Policy consultation – and ADBA operators survey

Northern Ireland’s Department for the Economy (DfE) and Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) have committed to developing a Biomethane Policy Consultation as part of the 2026 Energy Strategy Action Plan and are inviting views and comments.

The Consultation will explore how biomethane can support energy security, agricultural resilience, nutrient management and decarbonisation. It is open for responses until 15 Dec 2026. For more information and for details on how to respond see HERE.

Meanwhile the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) is bringing back its annual Operators’ Benchmarking Survey. The survey aims to collect data on key performance indicators, trends and practices, to inform stakeholders of strategies for success and compare the development of the industry over time.

The survey is in the form of a questionnaire covering operations, performance and compliance. ADBA is asking every AD plant in the UK to anonymously complete the survey. The results will help to build a clearer picture of the UK AD industry and contribute to benchmarking that can support best practice across the sector.
