Damià Barceló is a full professor at IDAEA Spain and director Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA-CERCA). He received several prestigious titles including Distinguished Scientist Fellowship Program (DSFP), Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universities of Ioannina, Greece and University of Lleida and Almeria, talented professor at Zhejiang A & F University (ZAFU), Hangzhou, China and awards Recipharm Environmental Award, Sweden in 2012 , Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW), 5th Award on Water Management & Protection, Saudi Arabia in 2012 and Prize King Jaime I on the Protection of Nature from Generalitat of Valencia, Spain in 2007. His expertise is in water quality assessment and management, fate, risk and removal of emerging contaminants in wastewater treatment plants and analysis, fate and risk of emerging contaminants and nanomaterials in the aquatic environment. He published over 1600 papers and book chapters. Since 2010 he is listed as highly cited scientists with h-index of 130. He was a coordinator of several national and EU projects and act as a supervisor for >67 PhD students. He is also editor of several high-quality journals namely Trends in Analytical Chemistry, Science of the Total Environment, Current Opinion in Environmental Science and Health, Case Studies of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Green Analytical Chemistry, Methods X and editor of three book series: Comprehensive Analytical Chemistry, Advances in Chemical Pollution and Environmental Management and Protection and The Handbook of Environmental Chemistry.
