IBioIC Feasibility Funding call – EOI deadline 11 May 2026

Deadline: 11 May 2026 for Expressions of Interest

The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) Feasibility Call invites industry-led applications for research projects in collaboration with academia, from businesses with a foothold in Scotland or a plan to deliver inward investment to stimulate Scotland’s economy.

Funding available is between ÂŁ20k-ÂŁ40k at 80% FEC for each project. (Note that this is awarded to the Higher Education Institute (HEI), not the Industry Partner).

The call seeks projects with a clear innovative step deploying a biological system (e.g. cell or enzyme-based) and/or a technological advance (e.g. process improvement, novel platforms).

Successful proposals must demonstrate:

  • A proof-of-concept for a product, process or service with the potential to deliver jobs and/or economic growth to Scotland.
  • A route to sourcing follow-on funding or commercial application
  • Collaborative knowledge exchange and research between industry partners and at least one of Scotland’s HEI. 19 Universities and 24 Colleges funded by the Scottish Funding Council are currently eligible.

Submissions are welcome in all areas of industrial biotechnology, irrespective of market sector. Exceptions include drug discovery, diagnostics and medical devices, but projects based on novel biomanufacturing platforms will be considered.
