Job alert! GitLife Biotech are now Recruiting a Bioinformatics Scientist

GitLife Biotech aim to set the global standard in the management of provenance and integrity for biological assets; enabling the potential of synthetic biology to be realised worldwide.

They are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and collaborative Bioinformatician, who is able to work under pressure, and quickly embed and bring their experience into multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams. The candidate will join a highly dynamic startup operating at the cutting edge of engineering biology and biosecurity.

The applicant will have a demonstrable background in microbial (and ideal plants) bioinformatics. Be familiar with microbial genetics, genomics technologies and data sets preparation, analysis and postprocessing of, e.g., whole genome sequencing, metagenomics, etc. The candidate should have experience assembling, annotating and analysing microbial genomes (and ideal plants’ genomes too) and metagenomes. Will be experienced in setting up bioinformatics workflows in on-site compute resources and on the cloud. The successful applicant will have experience coding in ruby, python or java(script) and, ideally, have experience developing web applications (front-end, back-end or both) for bioinformatics or engineering/synthetic biology. Demonstrable software engineering good practices (e.g. version control, Unix-based command line scripting, code testing, etc) are a must.
