
There are a number of cross-over areas between the two NIBBs, and the area of metals bio-remediation is one of them.
Manchester hosted some fascinating talks on this topic, including some on engineering cell vesicles for nanoparticle production; using phyto- remediation for metal recovery; deploying microbes to treat e-waste and mine tailings in South Africa; and recovering copper from whiskey lees.
