ESPP workshop on P reuse and recycling

ESPP workshop on P reuse and recycling

Date and venue: 8-9 June 2026, Madrid

The European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP) is organising a workshop on Implementation of the EU UWWTD article 20: P reuse and recycling rates.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide input to the development of proposals for phosphorus ‘reuse and recycling rates’ from wastewater, and an update on P-recovery, with participation of the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC). The workshop follows the JRC’s first draft report on current biosolids processing and destinations, and on P recycling technologies. It will include presentation and discussion of the Eunomia study on questions for policymakers for possible ‘quotas’ for recycled P in fertilisers. There will also be a session with 3-minute presentations by technology providers on P-recovery options,  with and a poster session on current research.
