As part of its Policy to Practice initiative, the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) is hosting a pair of webinars on PFAS: From Source to Solution. These will take place on 21 and 29 Sept 2026 from 12-13:00 UK. They will explore the topic of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), working from the initial input and following the chemical route and management options as these substances infiltrate the water system and out into the freshwater and coastal environment. The events will include an open discussion about what the solutions are and how experts from across the water sector can collaborate to make a difference. Following the EBNet PFAS WG initiative, we are now progressing an EBIC Engineering Biology project focused on enzyme engineering for PFAS biodegradation. Even more exciting, the team has recently been awarded an Innovate UK KTP project with Inspiralis, aiming to translate this work further towards industrial application. Recruitment is currently open for a Research Scientist to join the project”.
